COURSE OVERVIEW
The music industry has changed. Today’s successful musicians are multi-instrumentalists who can produce their own music, manage their own projects and capitalise on their online channels.
The BMus hons Music Performance & Production Course is aimed at producing versatile, musically literate graduates with the skills, theoretical knowledge and networks needed to develop lasting careers as professional musicians.
On our Degree Music you will learn from professional musicians working in the Industry who bring their practical knowledge and expertise into the classroom. So, whether you are an Instrumentalist, Songwriter, Performer, Producer, Arranger or Music Lecturer this is the course for you.
In order to succeed on this degree, you will need to have a solid foundation in your chosen specialism. If you don’t have but would like to develop your skill further, you will need to apply for the four-year degree with integrated foundation year.

Your ability to communicate effectively is important, so the quality of your writing is a factor in how we make our decision. In particular, we will be looking for you to show a genuine interest in music, demonstrated by one or more of the following:

The BMus Performance & Production is complemented by a foundation year course aimed at students whose musical skills need improving to gain UG entry. Study at this level is designed to give students a structured musical education, for example if you have not studied music formally at Level 3 or had prior access to private music lessons.
The course is built so students will learn and achieve the sufficient musical, industry and study skills. It concentrates on ensuring students develop a foundation level of technique on their chosen principal instrument. The course also provides an introduction to music theory and core performance, rehearsal and study skills.
We believe this course will allow students to be fully prepared for our BMUS UG courses, as they will ensure you achieve the full set of knowledge and practical skills required to study at Level 4.

This BMus (Hons) Music Performance course is designed to give you a broad range of skills to maximise your employability. You will develop high-level skills in your specialist area, such as your instrument and this will be supported by a broader range of skills that relate to contemporary music.
In addition, you will acquire experience and transferrable skills that are essential to all careers. On this degree, you will create the music you want to make, and we’ll help you establish the career you want to fulfil.
The LCCM student body is a highly creative community and we encourage students to network internally, creating events and activities themselves. The student committee organises student social and open events in our Music Box venue and performance rooms. We have many activities that occur throughout the year, including industry guest masterclasses for the whole college and weekly workshops such as Songwriting, Programming, Instrumental group lessons, Choir to open jams are offered to compliment your studies. These workshops also gives you the opportunity to experiment with new musical ideas, to improve your music skills and knowledge in a relaxed and informal setting.
We encourage students to attend industry networking events and conferences, especially those that happen in London. The Music Box venue regularly hosts gatherings with some of the most influential industry organisations including UK Music, the BPI, the Ivors Academy, the Student Radio Association/Student Music Network and the Featured Artists Coalition. We are an official venue for BBC Introducing Live in 2022.
