COURSE OVERVIEW
This professionally focused, 12-month practice-based master’s degree in music production aims to help students develop a specialist understanding of advanced music production tools, techniques and processes through the creation of a significant body of original work demonstrating a distinctive artistic personality. During the first term of this music production course, students will develop, workshop and record a body of songs and compositions which will then be taken through an advanced mixing and mastering processes in the second term. Students will also devise and test strategies to launch, market and continuously develop their professional personas and undertake a major body of creative and professional work over the summer, which could culminate in the creation of an album, a score for a feature-length film or the completion of an industry placement as part of the music production degree.

- In addition, a minimum second-class honours degree in a relevant subject from a UK awarding body or college recognised equivalent international qualification.
- Significant equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
- Plus, English language competency equivalent to CEFR Level C1 (7.0 overall, 6.5 in each category) if from a non-majority English language speaking country.

Our MMus in Music Production is rooted in the deep practice of production, musicianship and professional ability, and provides a specialised practice-based programme for ambitious career musicians and producers within contemporary music.
Programme modules will cover the following content:
- Songwriting: Melody Writing, Song Structure, Artistic Direction, Lyrical Writing and Subject Matter, Song Arrangement and Dynamics, Literary Devices, Co-writing.
- Production Casting & Recording Management: Analogue and Digital Recording, Advanced Audio Processing and Programming, Dub and Ambient Techniques, Session Management, Marketability.
- Post-Production Mixing & Mastering: Advanced Editing, Mixing and Mastering Techniques, Advanced Post-Production Midi Sequencing and Audio Processing, Advanced Equalization and Compression, Frequency, Harmonic, and Rhythmic structure, Mix Arrangement and Dynamics
- Composition For Film & Other Media: Analysis & technique, Composition, Orchestration, Case Studies, Live Recordings, Mixing for Film.
- Digital Distribution & Marketing: Musician and Artist Branding, Audience Identification, Content Planning, Social Media Optimisation, Digital Distribution, Utilising Meaningful Metrics.
- Major Project: Reflective and Academic Writing, Project Management, Research Methodologies, Ethical Implications and Impacts, Partners and Strategy.
