Why should LCCM be your college of choice for a drums degree? Our subject leader Richard Brook gives some detail about what sets us apart from other music colleges.
“When LCCM started, we talked at great length about the design of the course and its content. I wanted a course that taught students the skills that matter both technically and creatively, based on our experience, that would be relevant in the industry today. Something both practical and inspiring creativity. I think we have achieved that with this course.”
Creating your own Voice
“Now, more than ever, you have to be flexible. You have to be able to manage many different situations and come up with the goods. To be able to create your own voice and musicality. We focus on thinking more about what you’re going to play and more importantly, why.”
Small, Personal Classes
“The only way to get better is to play as much as you can in many different situations.
What with the small instrument classes (for more personal attention), numerous workshops, band rehearsals, gigs, the school’s own Drumline (Lead performers in a champions League cup final at Wembley Stadium) plus your own practise routine, there is no reason not to be playing for the majority of the day.”
LCCM Workshops include Bass and drums, Time manipulation, Theory in practise, Drumline, Funk Jam workshop, Latin Band workshop and more.
“I am proud of the course and the tutors we have here at LCCM. Collectively, the drum department has well over 100 years of professional experience in the industry and we are all still working professionals.”
