We’re so close to opening the doors of our brand new building The Music Box. We took a sneak peek at the interior to see how it’s coming along and we were amazed by the results!
Exciting times lie ahead with the opening of The Music Box based in Southwark SE1. The £35 million building offers six floors of top-of-the-range resources for music, writing and coding, including a 200-capacity basement venue. We took some progress pictures in a few different types of spaces in the building:
The spacious ground floor entrance will house a cafe open to students, staff and public, and a community hot-desk.
There’s plenty of bright and airy top-floor office space with views over London and down to the floor below.
Student Services/study space
The Student Services room on the third floor is a massive 40 square metres and double-height, with lots of space and a few computer terminals for students to work quietly, looking out over Union Street with great views of the skyline. You can book out equipment and rooms here too.
There are 7 performance and practise rooms of various sizes, all acoustically isolated and kitted out with brand new equipment.
This is one of four computer rooms, installed with the latest iMacs running Sibelius and Logic Pro X.
There are 10 brightly coloured practice booths, 5 of them drum booths and the rest general purpose.
There are 3 state-of-the-art recording studios, 2 live rooms, 2 vocal booths and 2 mixing booths, all running on Focusrite Rednet which is installed throughout.
You can keep up with the latest Music Box updates on our website and Facebook Page, or come along to our next Open Day where you can find out more information about just how special our new campus is going to be.
