Artists mark the first ever photo of the supermassive black hole at the centre of our galaxy, Sagittarius A*. The picture was produced by a global research team called the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) Collaboration, using observations from a worldwide network of radio telescopes.

Coincidentally, Sagittarius A* is the subtitle of a song on Arcade Fire’s new album WE (End Of The Empire IV) and frontman Win Butler appeared on the broadcast announcing the discovery alongside his bandmate (and wife) Regine Chassagne to perform a stripped-back rendition of the track. Meanwhile, Matt Bellamy of MUSE (pictured) simply posted on Instagram: “Knew she’d show up one day.” Of course, one of MUSE's biggest hits is their track Supermassive Black Hole, which is, professionally put, a massive banger. Via NME
