Last week a BBC Introducing in West Yorkshire presenter took to Twitter to announce that there may be some "proposed changes" that could result in her show coming to an end. Multiple news outlets have been shown proposals suggesting that 21 of the local radio shows across England and the Channel Islands could either merge or cease to exist, and now the Music Venue Trust has penned an open letter to the BBC Chairman Richard Sharp expressing their "grave concerns about the current uncertainty surrounding the future of BBC Introducing." For many young and unsigned musicians across the UK – a lot of you subscribing here we’re sure – BBC Introducing has been the only opportunity to get your music on local and even national radio. Since 2009, users have been able to upload their music to the platform’s website, which is sent directly to BBC Radio producers and presenters. For artists working independently (or on shoestring budgets!) BBC Introducing has continued to be a free and accessible way to get their voice heard – pivotal to launching the careers of Little Simz, Blossoms and George Ezra. As an education hub and venue, LCCM stands with BBC Introducing, and we hope the platform will continue to help new artists in the future. Via Line of Best Fit
